Self-employed workers: do not forget to submit your application for affiliation to the Mutualité des Employeurs (MDE) before 31/12/2025
Date of publication : 19.09.25

If you wish to benefit from the Mutualité des Employeurs (MDE) as of January 1, 2026, it is essential to submit your application for affiliation before December 31, 2025.
As a self-employed worker, if you fall ill, you will not receive any sickness benefits from the CNS during the waiting period, i.e. until the first day of the month following the month in which the 77th day of incapacity for work occurs over a period of 18 months. During this period, your income remains entirely at your own expense unless you have voluntarily joined the Mutualité des Employeurs (MDE).
Indeed, the MDE reimburses you 80% of the contributory base applicable at the time your incapacity for work arises. Each period of incapacity must therefore be justified by a medical certificate. The reimbursed amount will be credited to the monthly CCSS statement of the self-employed worker for the month to which it relates.
